01 Concrete Base Surface Preparation

In building waterproofing projects, the standard of base surface preparation directly affects the overall waterproofing outcome and the lifespan of the waterproof layer. This step is crucial.

The requirements for base surface preparation vary depending on the waterproof material and construction plan. The following requirements specifically apply to the outdoor waterproof coating of the X Waterproof System.

Base Surface Requirements:

1. Remove standing water, oil stains, dust, loose surface materials, and other debris. Grind the surface if necessary.

2. Fill surface potholes with cement mortar or other inorganic materials to achieve a basic level of flatness.

3. Newly applied cement mortar layers must be fully cured and dry. After the surface turns white, grind off any release agent before applying the primer.

02 Node Treatment

Node treatment in waterproof construction is often overlooked but is critically important. Improper handling can compromise the waterproofing quality and increase the likelihood of leaks.

Critical Nodes Include:

1. Drain outlets

2. Pipe roots

3. Inner and outer corners

4. Construction joints and expansion joints

5. Equipment screw holes

03 Penetrative Epoxy Primer Application

The primer, made of modified epoxy resin mixed with various additives, is designed for low initial viscosity, short curing time, good penetration, and high strength after curing. It forms a strong bond with the base surface.

Primer Application Steps:

1. Mix the two components in a 3:1 ratio.

2. Stir for 2–3 minutes to ensure thorough mixing.

3. Apply evenly to the prepared base surface using brushes, scrapers, rollers, or mechanical sprayers for large areas. Ensure complete coverage without omissions.

4. No specific thickness is required for the primer; just ensure an even coating. The primer penetrates the surface, sealing micro-cracks and pores.

5. At normal temperature (23°C), the curing time is 2 hours. After curing, the surface will appear glossy, flat, and slightly yellowish, making it easy to inspect for any defects.

   Important Reminder: The usable time of mixed primer is 15 minutes.

04 Topcoat Application (First Coat)

The Elastic Epoxy Roofing Waterproof Coating is an innovative waterproof material with a patented formula (elasticity > 200% after curing). It offers superior strength compared to ordinary waterproof coatings and is abrasion-resistant, durable under foot traffic, and resistant to root penetration. It can withstand outdoor exposure, immersion, and acid-alkali environments for over 10 years without additional protective layers.

Application Steps for the First Coat:

1. Ensure the primer is cured, and the surface is free of impurities or standing water.

2. Mix the two components in a 1:1 ratio. Stir thoroughly for about 2 minutes, ensuring even mixing.

3. Apply with brushes, rollers, or scrapers. Large areas can be sprayed using specialized machinery. The usable time for the mixed coating is 30 minutes, decreasing with higher temperatures.

04 Topcoat Application (Second Coat)

Apply the second coat after the first coat has cured.

Steps:

1. At 23°C, the first coat cures in 24 hours. Ensure it is tack-free to the touch.

2. Inspect for any uncoated areas in the first layer and correct them.

3. Follow the same procedure as the first coat.

4. The total thickness of the two coats should reach 1.5–2.0 mm, with an option for a third coat if needed to meet specific design requirements.

5. The coating cures without evaporating solvents or water, ensuring consistent results regardless of thickness. It self-levels to form a smooth, abrasion-resistant surface with excellent anti-fouling properties.

Curing Time: At 23°C, the final curing time is approximately 24 hours. For every 10°C decrease, curing time doubles; for every 10°C increase, it halves.
